Post cards for Pokey

here is an article in the Houston Chronicle about the effort. My postcard (front and back) are in the photos.

I made the postcards below for Pokey's Pet Project, I took the pledge and made some. Fun and easy. You can make some too, here is the link Pokey's Ponderings - the deadline to get them in is 10/23/12!
I used my hand dyed fabric to make the cats. They're perched overlooking the cute bird fabric (I just had to have) I bought in Houston last year at the International Quilt Festival.

Every year the International Quilt Festival - Houston has a celebrity auction during their show. It's an invitational auction for past winners. I chose to donate my latest Fiberactions Challenge quilt, I thought it was bright and happy, and who doesn't like fruit???

I've been busy making bags for the fall, I'm planning an open house in early December, details to follow so stay tuned!

I finished quilting Dusk - it took me a several hours but I'm pleased with the outcome.

I put my Bernina 440 on my Bernina quilting frame so I could stand up to quilt it. It made it so much easier.  I did all the quilting first and then the applique stitched around all the raw edges.

Choosing the fabrics (from my stash) was a pleasure.  I enjoy the hunt and the fussy cutting.

I love the little bit of aqua blue on the stones....

Making the leaves was a new technique. I'll definitely use it again. I been taking photos of beautiful fall trees for inspiration.
I have to put the facing on and then it's done. I'm hoping it will hang in an upcoming gallery show. Still waiting for final details but when I know, you'll know :)
